Cerritos College captured first in Grossmont's 47 annual basketball tournament.

The Grossmont 47 annual basketball tournament kicked off at Grossmont College Friday, November 30 with its final game played Sunday, December 2. Grossmont competed with Cerritos, College of the Desert, Palomar, LA Southwest, Moorpark and San Diego City in this year's tournament. Cerritos College captured first place.
With a big win over Grossmont on Friday 81-43, Cerritos continued into Saturday with another victory (vs Palomar 63-45). Sunday found Cerritos on the court for the championship match versus 2017 state runner-up, San Diego City. In a highly competitive match, the Falcons beat the Knights 80-75.
San Diego City Knights had a great weekend overall, with wins over College of the Desert (74-62) and Moorpark (93-82), only to fall to Cerritos in the final game (75-80).
Grossmont played Cerritos in the first match of the tournament. The Griffins were outscored by Cerritos 43-81, and continued into Saturday with a bye. Sunday found Grossmont back on the court in the consolation championship. With a valiant effort, Grossmont lost to College of the Desert 57-71. Great job Roadrunners!
Prior to the consolation championship, College of the Desert lost to San Diego City (62-74) and beat LA Southwest 74-71.
LA Southwest lost by one (one!) in their opening match against Moorpark (67-68), and again by three (just three!) in their match versus College of the Desert (71-74). Unlucky for the Cougars!
Palomar came into the tournament Saturday doing well, but losing to Cerritos 45-63. Sunday found the Comets with a double header and a win, first beating LA Southwest 66-62 and then losing to Moorpark 64-67.
