Jacob Flores - Pitching Coach

Jacob Flores is in his fourth season with the Griffins, serving as the team’s Pitching Coach. During his tenure, he has been influential in developing a deep and successful pitching staff, mentoring numerous pitchers who have gone on to play at the NCAA Division I level. Under Coach Flores’s guidance, Griffins pitchers have earned opportunities at programs including Wichita State University, CSU Northridge, and UC Riverside, among others, a testament to his ability to cultivate elite arms and prepare pitchers for the demands of competitive collegiate baseball. During the 2025 season, Grossmont College pitchers were further recognized for their success, earning PCAC All-League honors for both Starting Pitcher and Relief Pitcher of the Year.

Before transitioning into coaching, Jacob was a standout player himself. He is an alumnus of San Diego State University, where he pitched for the Aztecs over four seasons and contributed in multiple roles out of the bullpen and rotation. A left-handed pitcher with a strong competitive presence, Jacob steadily developed throughout his collegiate career. During the 2020 season, he tied for second on the team with eight appearances, posted a 2–0 record, and ranked among the Mountain West leaders with a 1.45 ERA and 12.05 strikeouts per nine innings. His performance that year placed him near the top of the conference in strikeouts and opponent average, showcasing his strike-throwing ability and effectiveness on the mound.

Over his career at SDSU, Jacob demonstrated consistency and resilience, performing both as a starter and reliever and earning Mountain West All-Academic honors multiple times for his excellence off the field as well.

Off the field, Coach Flores holds a Master’s degree in Homeland Security and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from San Diego State University, further highlighting his commitment to academic achievement and leadership development.

Jacob’s diverse background as a high-level competitor, dedicated mentor, and scholar makes him a respected leader and coach in the baseball community.
