HEADED FOR REGIONALS
This spring season, men's tennis at Grossmont College is on track to compete in Southern California regional playoffs.
3-6 overall, and a conference record of 7-2, the griffin men have a winning percentage of .778%.
The griffin swingers have shut-out Pacific Coast Athletic Conference members Mt. San Jacinto 9-0 (twice) and Imperial Valley 9-0, and have successfully out-hit San Diego City College (4-5, 6-3), Palomar College (7-2), and San Diego Mesa College (6-3). Conference leader College of the desert has been one of the only conference losses for the griffins, losing 1-8 to the roadrunners. The griffins are scheduled to play the roadrunners again Thursday, March 29, 2018 in Palm Desert.
The 1s team of Grossmont College include Pablo Gentile and Tomas Bernardes, both of which are originally from Argentina.
Gentile, a freshman out of Villa Mugueta high school (Santa Fe), is an aggressive volley at the net as Bernardes serves up an unbelievable fast-ball (freshman out of Instituto Martin Guemes (Buenos Aires)).
Additional matches for the men this season include Ventura College Friday, March 30, and San Diego Mesa College Tuesday, April 3, 2018. The Southern California Regional Championships are scheduled Tuesday, April 10 followed by the PCAC Championships Thursday-Saturday, April 12-14, 2018.
